Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.

Peter Stathakos writes:

Robert Scoble is thinking of organizing a Geek Camping get together for sometime in June or July down in Mount Rainier National Park It's camping for all the geekingly-inclined in the northwest. Sounds very cool.

To which I respond:

Now I can't speak for everyone, but does anyone else think this might end badly?

As a self-proclaimed geek, camping is pretty low on my list of “fun” activities. I'm not good at it, it ALWAYS rains, and I can't really see the point.  Geek-fests are almost always fun, partly because they involve doing geeky things.

This sounds like the opposite of fun to me, in fact it sounds like the synopsis of some really bad horror flicks. Maybe I'll rent one instead... like Wrong Turn, Sleepaway Camp or Deliverance.

Our ancestors have toiled for centuries to invent shelter to protect us from the rain and wild animals, refrigerators with ice cube dispensers, and magical cables that bring us power and access to the Internet.

Why move backwards? :)

More power to you. Though, I <a href="http://brainscat.com/photos/category/lake-medora-2004/">love camping</a>.

Ha HA! Ok, no problem. I'm not a big camper as well but it sounds like fun just to unplug and get to meet new people out here in the Northwest.

Hope to meet up with you at a "wired" geek event though.
