Do you want to work with world class game studios responsible for hit titles like Gears of War, Halo, Viva Piñata, Forza, Jade Empire, Fable, Age of Empires, Project Gotham Racing and others? Like the idea of getting your hands dirty on next-generation games like Mass Effect, Alan Wake and the forthcoming Marvel MMO?

Microsoft Game Studios is looking for seasoned developers to join the high-powered publishing engineering team to work on forthcoming titles for both Windows and Xbox 360. You’ll work with external publishing partners such as Epic Games and Bioware, as well as with internal teams like Bungie, Rare, and Lionhead. In addition, the team here has a coordinating role for the technical direction of Microsoft Game Studios, so you’ll have the ability to have a huge impact on game development for years to come.

Really? You think a Marvel MMO is going to be good? I mean, everyone will want to be the "main" superheroes, which they won't let you do, which means you'll end up playing in a world that City of Heroes/Villains has already created...just with more well known NPC's and locations.

I'm so soured on Marvel lately, maybe I'm just being bitter. I read about how the last of the Cable and Deadpool series involves Venom's alien symbiote merging with dinosaurs. Seriously, I can't make that sh1t up.

Sadly (actually not, for a few reasons D'Arcy brings up) the Marvel MMO got canceled: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/dice-08-shane-kim-talks-marvel-mmo-cancellation-alan-wake/

The good news is that NC is running with the code base and creating a Champions MMO (although why they're doing that as well as CoX, I don't know).

Dinosaurs?!?! Brilliant! That's awesome.

Just kidding. Not really. (ok Yes I am.)

I love Marvel, dumb choices and all. I never warmed up to Image, and DC only has a couple characters I like.

I think the Marvel MMO will be great. As long as they let you join the various super teams (xmen, avengers, defenders, etc) that the big guys are on, I dont have a big problem with not being an A List character myself. How cool would it be to go on a marvel team up type of mission with spidey? or to square off against Juggernaut with Wolverine by your side?... etc

Alien Symbiote Dinosaurs!! I love it. (yes I do.)

I guess someone forgot to pull the job listings. Although I just got the email TODAY, so who knows.

Champions... oh yeah. By far the best Supers RPG system ever. I've played Champions since I was about 13... a VERY long time ago. Of course, the only thing that takes longer than combat is character creation... OMG it took forever without the software.

Personally I love the Hero Games system, although I wasnt a huge fan of their IP. Now... if the make a generic hero games world with support for different time periods... that would rock. Fantasy Hero was fun, and Autoduel (Car Wars) Champions was a RIOT!! Alternate Timeline Champions was pretty awesome too. (what do you mean The Nazis WON?!?)

What we need is someone to step up and bring us an MMO based on RIFTS.

I *almost* bought an N-Gage just for the table scraps...

Cryptic Studios sold City of Heroes to NCSoft. Cryptic Studios is creating Champions Online as well as Star Trek Online.
