Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.
People ask me why I blog so much. You know, why I turn a 9 word sentence into War and Peace?

Maybe I'm a comment whore. When I blog about semi-personal stuff, I do so in part because I enjoy the feedback and comments I receive. Some posts receive more than others. Some post receive none at all. My technical posts tend to fall in that last category.

I've found that my somewhat funny, somewhat rambling blog posts usually get more of a response than my terse ones.

For example: I installed a new router today, what a PITA* would get far less response than the "novella" I published a few days ago, where I painstakingly detailed my experiences with installing my new Linksys router, and all the chaos that ensued.

Maybe it's cathartic. Maybe I write so much because it makes me feel better and it's a creative option for venting my frustrations in a way that will provide some enjoyment to those that read it. Just maybe I'll live longer as a result.

Yes, that's it. I write to live. I write for you, dear reader. I write for the guy that tells me one day I should write fiction so I can get rich. I write because it makes me happy. I write because *sometimes* I'm more comfortable blogging to a world full of strangers than talking to a room full of people I know.

Mostly, I'm just a comment whore though. I like the feeling of validation when people agree with me and the righteous indignation I feel when they don't.

* Besides, that's more of a Twitter than a blog post, really. Posted on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 12:43 PM General Interest | Back to top

Well, I laughed when I first read this post but then saw the title w/ Animosity in there. Since you quoted my comment, I certaintly hope you didin't take my comment to imply animosity. I think it's quite funny, actually :)

Anyway, I'd highly recommend either DD-WRT or Tomato on your routers -- very easy to set up, advanced features, and easy to set up either wireless bridging (as you're doing) or WDS. And finally, for all that is holy, don't use WEP :)

Looking at the past few posts I was starting to think you were blogging for the woman ;)
