BC Cartoonist Dies

Sunday, April 8, 2007 9:26 PM

B.C. Cartoonist Johnny Hart passed away on Saturday (read the CNN report here).

B.C. has been one of my favorite strips in the daily paper for some time, and I always got a kick out of the Biblical references that were thrown in considering that the strip is about cavemen (Johnny Hart was a Christian).

Have you ever stopped to realize that most of our (those of us that are 30 years old +/- 5 years) childhood heroes are starting to die off? Mr. Rogers, Mr. Dressup, Charles Schultz, Captain Kangaroo...now Johnny Hart.

Can't say that I was ever a huge fan of BC (didn't hate it, but didn't particularly love it either... I could take it or leave it), but it certainly was a staple on the comic pages for longer than I've been alive. Whether you were a fan or not, you knew what BC was.

It's sad that he's gone, but I'm telling you... when it's my turn, that's the way I want to go: being active and doing what I love doing right until the very end, no suffering.

Are you off today because its Easter Monday?!

You must be, otherwise I would have received a response to my AMAZING news that I emailed your work account about this morning.
