Breaking Up Is Hard To Do....

Wednesday, April 18, 2007 2:22 PM

There comes a time when you just have to be honest with yourself and about how you feel...about where your goals are and whether their in line with the other's. That's where I'm at right now. It's been a good few months, and i've grown personally in so many different ways...but its time to part ways...its time to say goodbye.

I'm breaking up with my gym.

Now, this may seem like a silly thing, but my gym is not normal. It's not a huge "let's take whatever walks in the door" type of gym. You have to pass a fitness test, where they're looking more for attitude and fit than actual fitness proficiency. Then once you're in, you typically train with the same group of people...and its a small group (there's 9 in the morning slot that I go), so you get to know each other pretty well.

So this morning I'm thinking that I'll mention it to Jeff, my trainer, that I'll be "on hiatus" after this month. While I'm on the treadmill, he walks up to me and says "Y'know D'Arcy, I really appreciate having you here in the morning...you bring that something to the workouts." Then pats my shoulder and walks away. W-T-F?! I can't tell him I'm quitting the gym now! So I'll have to wait until either Friday or Monday...

This doesn't mean I'm quitting getting healthy though...not by a longshot! It just means that...well, I want my bank account to get healthy and this was one of the things that had to go. ;)

So we'll see how Friday/Monday goes..

I have heard that actually completing a gym quit is as difficult as finally earning that PH.d in Cognitive Brain Science from MIT.

Yeah...I'm actually hopefully going to be able to stay there for about a session a week, although the price needs to be right.
